Aloe finishing technology leaves a soothing layer on the skin — the same relief you'd reach for on sunburned or irritated skin. It's also associated with better circulation in the skin's small vessels and fighting surface bacteria.

An antioxidant known to protect and repair skin. Independent studies suggest vitamin E can reduce the severity of sunburn caused by UVB exposure.

How the finish works

The aloe and vitamin E aren't sprayed on — they're sealed into the fabric as microcapsules that release with wear.

  1. Aloe vera and vitamin E are sealed inside airtight, waterproof microcapsules with a protective polymer shell.
  2. Those capsules are bonded to the fibers while the fabric is being manufactured.
  3. As you wear and move, friction against your skin gently opens the capsules.
  4. A thin, fresh layer of aloe and vitamin E transfers to your skin throughout the day.
  5. The finish stays active in the garment for up to 50 washes.

How it started

It started with a very bad sunburn.

A surf trip to Hawaii. A full day in the water with no rashguard, no UV shirt — just trunks and too much confidence. I came back to shore completely fried.

That night, all I wanted was to climb into a pool of aloe vera and stay there. So I did the next best thing: I walked to the nearest ABC Store, bought every bottle of aloe on the shelf, and kept reapplying it for days while my skin recovered.

"If I could have worn aloe, I would have. That's the whole idea."

That was the spark. If aloe vera is what we reach for after the sun, why isn't it in the clothes we wear in it? Aloe Shirts came out of that question — a way to keep a soothing layer of aloe and vitamin E against your skin, woven right into the shirt.

We're still discovering who it's for. Maybe it's someone like me, who wishes they could bathe in aloe after a day outside. Maybe it's a traveler keeping their skin from drying out on a long-haul flight. Maybe it's a beach resort or hotel that wants to hand guests something better than a plastic bottle of after-sun. We're excited to find out.

Aloe, vitamin E, and what the research actually says.

Does aloe vera help with post-surgical scars?+

Some clinical research supports it. Aloe vera gel applied directly to a wound has been linked to faster epithelialization, less inflammation, and improved early healing scores in several postoperative studies, including trials on periodontal flap surgery and rhinoplasty scars.

This research is about aloe gel applied to the wound itself, not a garment worn nearby. Always follow your surgeon's wound-care instructions.
Is vitamin E good for surgical scars?+

The evidence is weaker than most people assume. Several controlled studies found topical vitamin E has little to no effect on scar appearance, and roughly one in three users develops contact dermatitis — an allergic skin reaction — from it. Many dermatologists recommend avoiding vitamin E on fresh surgical wounds for this reason.

Talk to your surgeon before applying anything, including vitamin E, to a new incision.
Can I wear an Aloe Shirt over a healing incision?+

Check with your surgeon first. Aloe Shirts are designed for everyday comfort on intact, sun-exposed skin — not as a wound-care product for open or healing incisions. Fabric finishing technology is not a substitute for clinical aftercare.
